Backup Policy

Juice will contain all prepayment financial transaction information stored in the Juice database. Taking time to properly define a backup policy should be a top priority. As this data will be critical for system continuity, execution of the backups should be done on a regular basis. The system admin will be responsible for the successful completion of this schedule. Normally this will mean checking backup dates and available backup media. It should be possible to restore the backup from tape and have an operational system quickly.

Database maintenance

Please make sure everyone maintaining the database can tell you:

  • When was your last successful backup?
  • When is the next backup scheduled?
  • Does the database server have proper air conditioning and flow?
  • Is the data center kept locked at all times?
  • How long can the UPS power the server during an outage?
  • When was the last server update?

Also important is to have a daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedule. It will take just a few minutes a day and will keep your system availability.
